Castilene Castings1677 viewsThese are castings of the original scuptures in Castilene wax. They will be made into busts, cast in plastic and sold to fans of Zombie Pirates.

More Cannon progress...1195 viewsThe cannon is taking shape with wheels and a barrel.

Painted Cannon1197 viewsHere's the final look for the cannons. A very simple paint job. I opted for the simple look as opposed to adding too much detail since this is more cartoony then realistic.

|

Cannon Progress1130 viewsHere are the two side pieces of the cannon being worked on. It's made of Sculpey - a polymer clay you bake to harden.

2680 viewsCaptain Quills maquette made in around August of 2004. I chopped up this sculpt later to make molds of his mouth and head - and used the body to make measurements for the final puppet.

|

2394 viewsCaptain Quills head after it was cast in the silicone mold and frozen before I pulled it out.

|

2270 viewsHere I had chopped up the captains face for mold making and put it all back together. The white sculpey had was placed on top to get a good fit before I baked and sanded it smooth.

3074 viewsCaptain Quills brass tube and lead wire armature. The lower half of his body used aluminum wire and wood feet. Scrap clay was added under the good clay to recycle it and save on the nice clay.

|

2576 viewsCaptain Qull was roughly 40% finished here. His faces were cast and I added teeth and the black areas with clay and black paint.

Captain Lock Jaw Update280 viewsHere's the 2011 updated design for Leather Beard after he was swallowed by the shark. This version will eventually get sculpted. The current Lock Jaw looks more like a whale since he's got a flat nose. This sketch-design was created in Sculptris, a free computer based sculpting program. Don't worry, the final version will be in clay!

2722 viewsCaptain Lock Jaw's maquette. I plan to make a few changes with the colors and small details before he's considered done.
